Invoices are downloaded as print-ready PDF files formatted on A4 paper. They are ready to email or print directly.

Can I use InvoiceGST for both B2B and B2C invoices?

Yes. The invoice generator supports both B2B invoices (where the customer has a GSTIN) and B2C invoices (where no GSTIN is needed). CGST/SGST or IGST is calculated automatically based on the supplier and customer states.

What is GST and how is it calculated?

GST (Goods and Services Tax) is India's unified indirect tax. It replaced multiple older taxes like VAT, Service Tax, and Excise Duty. InvoiceGST automatically calculates CGST + SGST (for intra-state transactions) or IGST (for inter-state transactions) based on the GST rate you select for each line item.

What is the difference between CGST/SGST and IGST?

When a transaction happens within the same state (intra-state), both CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) are charged — each at half the total GST rate. When a transaction crosses state lines (inter-state), only IGST (Integrated GST) is charged at the full rate. InvoiceGST detects this automatically from the supplier and customer states.

What is a GSTIN and where do I find it?

GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number) is a unique 15-character alphanumeric code assigned to every GST-registered business in India. It is structured as: 2-digit state code + 10-digit PAN + 1-digit entity code + 1-digit check digit. You can find your GSTIN on your GST registration certificate or the GST portal (gst.gov.in).

What GST rates are supported?

InvoiceGST supports all standard GST rates: 0%, 0.1%, 0.25%, 1%, 1.5%, 3%, 5%, 6%, 7.5%, 9%, 12%, 14%, 18%, and 28%. You can set a different rate per line item.

What is the Composition Scheme?

The GST Composition Scheme is for small businesses with annual turnover up to ₹1.5 crore (₹75 lakh for some service providers). Composition dealers pay a flat tax rate and cannot collect GST from customers. Enable the "Composition Scheme dealer" checkbox in the Your Business section — all tax fields will be zeroed out on the invoice.

What is Reverse Charge?

Under Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM), the liability to pay GST shifts from the supplier to the recipient. When the "Reverse Charge Applicable" checkbox is enabled, it will be noted on the invoice as required by GST rules.

What is Place of Supply and why does it matter?

Place of Supply determines whether a transaction is intra-state or inter-state, which in turn decides if CGST/SGST or IGST applies. By default it is the same as the supplier's state. For certain services or special cases, the Place of Supply may differ — you can override it in the Bill To section.

What is an HSN code?

HSN (Harmonised System of Nomenclature) codes are 4–8 digit codes used to classify goods under GST. They are mandatory on invoices for businesses with annual turnover above ₹5 crore (6-digit code) or above ₹1.5 crore (4-digit code). Businesses below ₹1.5 crore are exempt.

What is a SAC code?

SAC (Services Accounting Code) codes are used to classify services under GST, similar to how HSN codes classify goods. You must mention the SAC code for each service on your invoice.

What does a paid plan include?

Paid plans let you save invoices to your account, manage customer contacts, send invoices directly via email, track payment status (draft, sent, paid, overdue), and view revenue reports on your dashboard. The Professional plan adds higher invoice volume and priority support.

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

Yes. You can cancel from Settings → Billing at any time. Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing cycle. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months.

Is my business data secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All data is stored in Supabase with row-level security — you can only access your own invoices and customers. Passwords are never stored (authentication is handled by Supabase Auth). Payments are processed securely via Razorpay and we never store card details.

Can I export or download all my invoices?

Accepted Answer

You can download any individual invoice as a PDF at any time. Bulk export is on our roadmap. If you cancel your subscription, your data remains accessible on the free tier.

Why is CGST/SGST shown as ₹0?

CGST and SGST are only calculated when both the supplier state and customer state are selected and they match (intra-state). If states are missing or different, IGST is used instead. Also check that the GST rate for each line item is set to something other than 0%.

Question 19

The PDF looks different from what I see on screen. Why?

Accepted Answer

The PDF is generated server-side as a fixed A4 layout. The on-screen form is a data-entry view, not a live preview of the PDF. Use the "Preview" button to see exactly how the PDF will look before downloading.

Question 20

Is the invoice legally valid for GST purposes?

Accepted Answer

The invoice contains all the required fields under GST rules: supplier GSTIN, customer GSTIN (if applicable), HSN/SAC codes, tax breakup, and place of supply. However, you should verify compliance with a CA or tax advisor for your specific business situation.
